While playing on the ferry wharf in Wellington, the younjr daughter of Mr. Keegan. of the Union Company* Adderley. fell into the harbour. Hearing eric-.- for help Mr. Jack McDonald, foreman for the Union Company's forry boats, rushed to the. side of the wharf. Seeing the little girl's struggles he jumped in fully clothed and brought her safely u> the stringer of the wharf, where many willing hands soon had her on firm ground none the worse for her ducking. "The position of ,t Town Clerk has a humorous side." said one of them, when responding to the felicitations of the Mayor. "It was only last week,' , he added, ""that a lady came into the office and declared that she would like to see myself and Ills Worship burning in hell fire. Her remarks were occasioned by my (juite innocently conveying to her a resolution of the council in reply to her request for some improvements to her property."— ("Feilding Star.")
