PORT RETURNS. \ *■ In his report to the Harbour Board to-day the board's traffic manager stated that the total imports from February 22 to March 21 at Auckland were 138,855 tons. To those of you who have the knowledge of the great advantages of electrithere is no need to appeal, as there caiinot be any two opinions that progress and advancement will resul*. over the whole area by the advent of this power, which to-day has become a. necessity in every home. It is to those of you who are undecided that I wish to appeal, asking that you give the matter earnest consideration before you approach the ballot box. The following important matters should be borne in mind: — 1. If the loan is carried, the undertaking will be carried out by your own elected representatives, and you will have direct control. 2. You will be able to participate by being a consumer at a price that 13 nearly the lowest in New Zealand. 3. If you do not wish to install it at present, or if you are a long distance from the proposed reticulation, you should still support it, because it will not cost YOU anything, and you will be connected sooner or later, whereas if you vote against the loan you will ba many more years awaiting it. 4. The whole scheme is a sound business proposition, and the area is an ideal one for load factor, and as a whole is infinitely better than any integral part of it. 5. If the proposals are carried there is no necessity for any rate of any description, as the undertaking will be self-supporting as soon as the main reticulation is completed, BUT A RATE WILL HAVE TO BE LEVIED IF THE PROPOSALS ARE REJECTED. SA. The Proposals carried mean Electricity in the District in 12 months. 08. The proposals defeated mean XO ELECTRICITY. therefore vote for the LOAN. 6. Do not be misled by any selfelectcd body who have their own motives for opposing the loa/is. This is YOUR opportunity for progress and YOUR advancement.
