MOTOR ACCIDENT.
YOUNG MAN INJURED. CAR DESTROYED BY FIRE. (From Our Correspondent.) TAIHAPE, Tuesday. A young man named Sidney Gregory, son of Mr. A. H. Gregory, taxi proprietor, had a narrow escape from death on the Ruanui Road yesterday. He was driving- a five-seater car, and had reached the" bend'near Collier's Junction, when the steering gear locked when he was rounding the bend. The car collided with a telegraph post with sucli force that the post was broken off short. The driver, who was alone, was thrown out of the "ear with great force and was rendered unconscious. The car continued its career down the bank and crashed into the gully, where it was destroyed by fire. Mr. Gregory regained consciousness about an hour later, and made Iris way to the Ruanui homestead. He was later conveyed to Taihape. His injuries are .not so serious as was at first supposed, consisting of abrasions to the head, an injured arm, and severe shock.
