% , _ . .., — CLOSE OF THE RACING SEASON. CRUISING AND HARBOUR RACES. SEVEN CLUBS TAKE PART. The official closing of the 1024-25 yachtracing season on the Waitemata will take place to-morrow afternoon, under the auspices of the Auckland Yacht and Motor Boat Association, when the seven local clubs will combine to hold cruising and harbour races lor nil classes and launches. The larger boats will race to Islington Bay, and the small boats will compete over the usual harbour course. All events will start off the end of the King's wharf, between the Tower on the wharf and launch i Speedwell, moored north. The five-Hag j system of starting will be used from the lower, and to save time only eight minutes I will elapse between races. The entries arc good all round, the Aka- ! rana club entries totalling 86, the Ponsonby I Club 7(1, the Victoria Club 74, and the Devonport (Tub The other clubs taking part are the Royal New Zealand Yacht j Squadron, the New Zeaoind I'ower Boat I Association, and the Takapuna Boating |Club. The following are the courses, which, for convenience, are referred to by numbers in each rai c :— No. 1 Course, for all keel yachts, also II and I. Classes. — From starting line between Tower on King's wharf and launch Speedwell, moured north, thence round Saltwoilcs beacon, near Hangituto reef, on starI'.ard hand, tiieuce round green light beacon in channel on putt hand, finishing in Islington Bay, between launch Daisy and mark. Sandsplc beacon, Beau Rock, the beacon below Kangitoto wharf, and white and green light buoys in channel are to be observed as fairway marks, the latter both on going out to the Heel' mark and returning. No. 2 Course, fur Launches and N Class. — From starting line off King's wharf direct to Isiingtou Bay, finish.ng between launch 1 laisy and mark, observing Sandsplt beacon. Beau Ruck, and the beacon below Ruugitoto wharf as fairway mams. No. .'i Course, for all Harbour Races. — From starting liuc between Tower on King's wharf and launch Speedwell, moored north, thence round Sandsplt beacon, on starooard hand, thence round Resolution buoy, on starboard hand, thence round launch Speedwell off King's wharf on starboard hand, twice round. The direction of sailing this course may be reversed, according to the wind. A v. hire dag on Tower will indicate taking the Sandspit murk first, and a black hag taking Resolution first. In this case turning marks to be kept to port. Starting times are as follow :—Launches, 3.1.1 p.m.: keel yacats, 2.25 p.m.; _a and 20----footers. 2.M0 p.m. : 22-footers, 2.44 p.m. ; ISft, 10ft, and Star class. 2.52 p.m.; 14ft handicap and Jellicoe class, 3 p.m.; 14ft square hilge and 12ft Oin class, 3.S p.m. The officers for the day are: Starter, Mr. A.
