The British auxiliary schooner Madeline Adams was seized 20 miles off the American shore after a 12 hours' chase. Her master is charged with the violation of the Anglo-American Treaty. The crew of nine are in custody. The carso. valued at 500,000 dollars, has been seized. It is alleged that the captain entered into a conspiracy to smuggle the liquor ashore on coastguard vessels by bribing members of the crew.— (A. and N.Z.)
