ANNUAL RAILWAY RETURNS.
FRANKTON JUNCTION FIGURES. (From Our Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. The annual returns of the Franktori Junction station for the period ending March 31 show a decided increase on the previous year's working. On the outwards side, a total of 17.230 tons or general goods were dealt with. Tma is an increase of 504 tons, notwithstanding the fact that the No. 2 butter factory of the New Zealand Co-opera-tive Dairy Company has bceu shifted to Te Aw'amutu, which meant a difference of approximately 2000 tons of butter. The revenue outwards has an, increase of £1909 11/4. The. inwards branch item of general goods has an increase of 22,995 tons, which is a good indication of the general increase in the Waikato town's business. Under the heading of timber there is a decrease of 527S tons, and upon inquiry, the reason seems to be found in the" dairy companies importing white pine for their butter boxes, instead of using the local timber. The actual figures arc: Outwards: Cattle 7597, sheep and pigs 34,712, timber 690 tons, general merchandise 17,230 tons, revenue £33,988 9/9; inwards: Cattle 3080, sheep and pigs 70,817, timber S7BS tons, general merchandise 54,507 tons, revenue £36.878 11/11.
