AN UNCOMMON VISITOR.
» — .- —.— GREEK STEAMER ARRIVES. A TWO-FUNNELLED FREIGHTER. Of somewhat unusual appearance is the tramp steamer Electra Stravroudi, which arrived in Auckland at an early hour this morning and berthed at the western side of the Central wharf to unload part of her cargo, consisting of Australian hardwood, loaded at Bunbury. The vessel, which flies the Greek flag at her stem, differs from the ordinary type of trader visiting these waters in that she carries two black funnels, with a white band and black star. She i 3 the first tramp steamer with two smoke stacks to enter this port for some years. Built of steel throughout, she has three holds forward and two aft. The Electra Stravroudi was launched at Flensburg, Schleswig-Holstein, in 1890, and, after trading for some years under the German flag, was acquired by a British firm which used her during the war period. Some three years ago, she was sold to Greek buyers and registered at Chania, Crete, being given her present name. She is under the command of Captain G. Courentis, who has with him Greek oificers and a mixed coloured crew. ( Of 4455 tons gross and 4214 net, the vessel is 388 feet in length, and 47 feet in breadth, with a depth of 20.5 feet.
