A good way to Teheat a roast is bysteaming. This is especially satisfactory if the roast is inclined to be elightly overdone or dry. To make new boots polish, rub with the inside half of a lemon, allow to dry, and black in the usual way. A brilliant polish will at once be obtained. To make one egg go as far as two, beat the yolk up in half a teacup of milk, then whip the white to a snow, and stir the two into any mixture, pudding, cake, or batter, where egga are required. When grease of oil is spilt on the hearth it can easily be removed by immediately covering the spot with hot ashes or burning coals. ' An ever-dirty hearth-"and a grate always choked with cinder and ashes are infallible evidences of bad housekeeping. • Save your' potato parings, place them in anold tin, and bake them in an oven until they are crisp. Then, when you lay your fire, put them amongst the paper wth a few sticks. This ensures a bright, quick flame, and effects a considerable saving in firewood. To soften paint brushes on which paint has -caked, soak for several days in a mixture of equal parts of linseed oil and turpentine. Dissolve one teaspoonful of soda in a cupful of warm water, and put the brushes in for the night; wash in -the morning with warm water and soap, and they will be ready for use again. .To wash artificial eilk jumpers, always use a good brand of soap flakes and just ■ lower the jumper carefully in to. the soapy water, touching it as little as possible with the hands. When drying, do npt "hang" it out. in the usual way, hut make a "hammock" between two lines or chaire with the aid of a clean cloth, or part of an old sheet, and just place the jumper on it to |iry. Do not touch it more than is absolutely necessary, but turn it occasionally, so that it dries thoroughly. When the neck is inclined to stretch, just run some., narrow ribbon or tape round the inside..This keeps it in its proper chape.
