SUNDAY EXCURSION TRAINS.
REPLY TO CHURCHMEN. (Tiy Telegraph. —Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. In reply to a communication from the Christchureh Presbytery expressing regret at the new policy in respect to the running of excursion trains on Sundays, the Hon. J. G. Coates said the Department did not encourage extention of Sunday trains, but where it was eleavly shown that a large number of people desired to travel on Sundays 4 the Department had to Tecognise its " obligation as an institution owning the means of transport.
