SALE OF GOVERNMENT STOCK.
POOR DEMAND FOR CATTIE, PIGS SELL WELL. / (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) ' HAMILTON, this day, A sale of-pedigree cattle and pigs on behalf of the Government was held at the Ruakura State Farm yesterday. The lots offered were all of excellent strain and the attendance of farmers and breeders was very large. Bidding for the cattle was, however, very poor, and there was no sale for Jerseys whatever. The highest priced animal was 4 Shorthorn bull, which was purchased ty a Pukekohe farmer, for 90 guineas. Ik pigs, >vhich were all of Berkshire strain, sold well, and what lots were not disposed of under the hammer, were sold privately afterwards.
