The work of raising and extending the coal loading plant on the No. 1 jetty, Port Kembla, which has been in progress some time, is now practically completed. Previous to the work being undertaken ships have been loaded at the rate of 750 tons per hour, and now it is expected that when ithese improvements have been cowpleted this speed will be exceeded. The greatest Improvement carried out, however, is in respect to the size of the ships that will from now on be able to load coal, from this jetty. Previously there has been an Insufficient height, which prevented certain large ships, including the Commonwealth and Dominion liner Port Sydney, from loading coal. The Improvements that have been made will permit of the largest steamers being loaded, including those of exceptional height. HAURAKI IN PORT.
