LEAGUE FOOTBALL.

OPENING OF THE SEASON. The Management Committee of thp Auckland Rugby League met last evening, the chairman, Mr. W. J. Hammill, presiding. Otahuhu Tram.—Following a conversation ho nnrl the secretary had with members of the Otahuhu team, the chairman said the latter had agreed to be nominated for the B division. Badges.—lt was decided that the League should purchase badges for members of the Management Committee. Request Refused.—-A letter received from the Y.W.C.A., asking if the League would grant permission to a hockey team to practice at Oarlaw Park during the football i season, was considered. The committee | regretted it was unable to grant the I request, pointing out that while pleased to do so during the slack period, it was impossible to grant the use of the ground during the football season. Insurance.—lt was decided that the League should carry its own risk, covering the insurance of players in the A and B divisions, and that the rules set out in the repprt of the special insurance committee be adopted for the present season. It was stated that under the scheme the players were insured better than players in any other sport in the Dominion. Band Recital.—The use of Carlaw Park was granted to the Newcastle Steel Works Band to hold a recital to-morrow evening. Selectors. —Messrs. Asher, Fox and McDonald were appointed selectors for the season. It was decided that the season should open on April IS, for which day the following matches were announced : City v. Ponsonby, Carlaw Park (No. 1 ground), 3 p.m.; Athletic v. Newton, Carlaw Park (No. 2 ground), 3 p.m.; Richmond r. Devonport, Devonport, 3 p.m.; Bllerslie v. Mangere, Carlaw Park (Xo. 1 ground), 1.40 p.m.; Kingsland v. Northcote, Carlaw Park (Xo. 2 ground), 1.45 p.m.
