OFFICIALS AND POLITICS.
MR. H. E. COMBS' CANDIDATURE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. At the annual meeting of the North Canterbury section of the Post and Telegraph Officers' Association last night :i letter was read from Mr. H. E. Combs, general secretary, stating Unit he had been selected as the Labour candidate for Wellington North, and placing himself unreservedly in the hands of the association. The chairman, Mr. H. V. Ward, said the meeting should keep two things in mind, the first being that Mr. Combs was standing for Parliament as he had a right to do- The second was the question as to whether he should be allowed to use the "Katipo" as a party organ. Discussion on the letter was held over for a month, when a special general meeting will be held. The question of cancelling affiliation with the Alliance of Labour will bo gone into later.
