AN ADDED ATTRACTION.

The letter that we publish to-day from a correspondent Avho evidently knows the place represents, we feel sure, the opinion of many about the proposal to use the Bowen Falls at Milford Sound for industrial purposes. Protests from this end of the Dominion are especially valuable in that whereas Milford Sound

is a national possession, it is, by reason of its position, much more accessible to South Island people than to Aucklanders. The more protests there are against this amazing piece of vandalism the more will the Government be likely to veto it. The most astonishing contribution to the discussion comes from the member of Parliament whose electorate includes Milford Sound. Mr. Horn thinks that thousands of people will visit Milford Sound to see these nitrate works! We suggest that if these works are erected, Miss B. Ij!. Baughan be asked to re-write "The Finest Walk in the World," to include a description of the new attraction, and perhaps Mr. Hubert Church would give to his beautiful poem on Bowen Falls the necessary industrial touch. The late Captain Mair told of an Englishman whose comment on the Pink and White Terraces was that they Avould do splendidly for scalding pigs, but eveu this man did not add tlmt crowds of tourists would come to see the works.
