SOVIET'S STRONG HAND.

PEKING, March 3.

■ The signing of the treaty between Russia and Japan seems to have been the signal for the adoption of strong repressive measures by the Soviet authorities at Harbin, Manchuria. According to foreign telegrams, 500 more "whites" have been discharged from the Chinese Eastern railway. -4 Bolshevik professor has been put in charge of the Education Department.

It is also stated that the former head of -the Russian Commercial School at Harbin has been dismissed. He was apparently suspected •of reactionary leanings.—(Reut'er.)
