CHIROPRACTIC HEALING.

ITS PRINCIPLES EXPLAINED. The principles of chiropractic were explained at the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall last evening by Miss F. Duggan in a lecture on infantile paralysis and chiropractic given under the auspices of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Chiropractors' Association. The Hon. G. J. Garland presided over a large attendance.

Mies Duggan spoke of the general ignorance of the nature of chiropractic. It was discovered and first practised in America in 1895 by Mr. D. T>. Palmer, and there were 25,000 chiropractors operating in the world to-day. Under this healing art great importance was attached to the spine; and the lecturer explained the effect of displacement of the vertebrae at different parts of the spinal cord. Tails, injuries, operexercise and chilling of the body were liable to have eerious results; and these were pointed to as possible causes of infantile paralysis. There was no difference, it was stated, between the structure of a paralysed muscle and one capable of contraction: and chiropractors eought to effect their cures by working on the bodily mechanism that should set the muscles in action. Two cases of cure of facial paralyeis by chiropractic methods, and one case of giving an infant the power to walk were quoted by the lecturer.
