INCREASE IN FARES APPEOVED
EESULTS OF THE POLL. By a large majority, the ratepayers of Takapuna decided at a poll yesterday that the agreement reached by the Taktipuna Borough Council and the Takapuna Tramways and Ferry Co. be adopted. The agreement set down that the council apply to the Government for an Order-in-Council authorising an increase in the tram fares by a penny for the first section travelled over, subject to the sale of concession tickets. The increase, however, will not come into force until after the electrification of the tramway scheme. The second clause in the agreement was a proposal thai? the council be empowered to delegate the authority for the increase to the tramway company. The clauses were voted for separately, and the following results of the poll show a large majority in favour of both proposals :— . Iv'o. 1. No. 2. For. Against. For. Against.
