DEMPSEY AND GIBBONS. WILL THEY FIGHT ? VANCOUVER, February 11. Tommy Gibbons, the chief aspirant for the world's heavy-weight boxiiig championship, announces here that he has not signed a contract with Mr. Tex Rick.ard to meet Dempsey. as announced by tho New York promoter last week. Gibbons will not sign with Rickard until he secures Dempsey's signature. He thinks the champion will fight again.— (Reuter.) TOO PIiTTMP. GIBBONS CANCELS CHALLENGE. NEW YORK, February 2. Tommy Gibbons is notifying the Boxing Commission that he is" withdrawing his challenge against Gene Tunncy. Gibbons cannot make the weight for the light heavyweight division. "I am prepared to meet any heavyweight who wants to claim the championship when Dempsey retires," said Gibbons.
