WEALTHY AMERICAN'S BRIDE.
"DAUGHTER OF COLOURED MAX." Naturalisation and marriage records -were submitted In New York recently, showing that two members of the family into which Leonard Rhinelander. one of the wealthiest young men In New York, recently married, are coloured. Rhinelander's marriage a few daya ago to Alice Jones caused a sensation. When a newspaper published a story that Miss Jones was the dancbter of a coloured man she and her husband Issued a denial and threatened a libel action. The newspaper Is carrying eworn statements by her father, George Jones, in naturalisation papers in which he testified that he was coloured, i I Records of the marriage of Emily Joneg, a sister of Ithluelander's bride, are also submitted. They show that Emily nnd her husband both swore they were coloured. The Jones family lived in a suburb In comparatively humble clrcumstancea, while Rhinelander was noted as the son of one of the richest of the old Dutch families. Piftures of the girl published show her to be attractive, with regular features and without any trace of the negro. !
