FLAME UNDER WATER.
BAY OF SMALL BOILERS ? LOXDOX, January 28. Oscar Bniiilcr, a Swede, lias introduced a generator similar to that of Becker, wlin recently devised a steam preuerator of the size of a suitcase, says <t message from Paris. A submerged flame consisting of oil and air, burns fiercely in direct contact with the water, attaining the temperature of 4000 degrees Fahrenheit. Brunler says thai, the locomotive boiler of the future will measure 36 inches by 54 inches, and will be able to raise steam instantaneously. Oscar Brunler is not the first in the field with an invention for flame to burn under water, though his generator idea is probably new. On December 31 Sydney "Sun' , published a photoraph showing a diver at work on a wreck with a flame apparatus which burnt its way into the metal. The inventors aro Siebe, Gorman and Co., Ltd., London.
