A deputation from the Watersiders' Federation waited on the AttorneyGeneral regarding the dispute on the waterfront upon the question of preference. The nature of the discussion is not officially disclosed. Responsible members of the federation later expressed the opinion that negotiations with the committee of management have sboivn that ouly direct action will lie effective in securing abolition of the Watersiders' Labour Exchange. A message from Brisbane compromise has been effected in the dispute between the Seamen's Union and the owners regarding securing crews for the looma. and Canberra.—(A. and X.Z.)
