BIGAMIST'S EXCUSE.
MARRIED WHILE DRUNK. j WELLINGTON, Wednesday. , Joseph James Groomotte, charged with ' bigamy, again appeared before the Supreme Court. The Chief Justice said that prisoner had admitted the offence, hut th'clprecl that ho had done so because his wile had acted improperly during his absence on active service. Prisoner was in Englishman who had changed his name from' Howard to Groomotte. He had gone to' South Africa when he learned that his wife had been unfaithful, ut.d had gone, through the form of marriage while , drunk. His Honor said it was not a case which called for a severe penalty.., He would deal with it on Saturday. ■ ' 1
