UNITED FIRE CONTROL.
SMALL STATIONS CONDEMNED. ONE TRKK HILL CRITICISM. Adverse criticism was levelled at the existing methods of fire-fighting in Auckland, at last night's meeting of the One Tree Hill Road Board. "We form drainage hoards and power hoards, and work together,*' said the chairman (Mr. R. G. Clark i, "hut in the important matter of fire-fighting, nothing "f the kind has been done." The small stations were very costly he added, in regard to the question of a suitable district lire brigade site for One Tree Hill. Mr. I. ( hapmi.n was of the opinion that the Auckland Fire Bohrd should extend its district: hut it had replied that it had insufficient plant for the purpose He considered the time was approaching when metropolitan fire board would have to be formed in Auckland. He proposed thai the matter he hi ought under the notice of the l.nral Bodies' Association, to test their feeling about it. The meeting decided to write to the association on the question of forming a metropolitan board, and in the meantime to make an offer for a Green Lane section to he used as the site of a fire brigade station at Une Tree Hill.
