REMARKABLE ACCIDENT.
' Constable Rowley, aged 34 year*, a | well-known and popula.r member of tbe , Adelaide police forte, died at the j Adelaide Hospital as a result of an ; extraordinary accident. Ho -vvas riding | along a road on Tuesday afternoon to ' lake up relieving duty at tho St. Peters I police station. He was -passing close Ito the front of a- shop, when the wind , blew out a loose verandah blind, and he | collided violently with tho end of the i; wooden pole attached to the bottom of '!lhe blind. Tho polo struc'.. him on tho 'abdomen, causing him t.n cry out in '.pain, and to fall from bis bicycle. The ''injured man was conveyed to Ihe '■Adelaide Hospital suffering from inMtornal hemorrhage. Lalcr in the ■ evening an operation was -performed. I bur ihe constable's life could not Iv ' i saved, and he died early next, morning, 'lie was a conspicuous figure in the 'local police force because of bis par--1 ticularly lino athletic build. He bad 1 taken a prominent part in the various police sports contests.
