THE PLUNKET SHIELD.

OTAG& MEETS WELLINGTON.! VISITORS SCORE 290. WELLINGTON'S POOR START. (By Telegraph.—rress Association ) WELLINGTON, Friday. The Plunket Shield match, Wellington v. Otago, was continued this afternoon in line weather. Otago's opening batsmen were got rid of cheaply j against the howling of Brice and Badcock. Both Worker and Alloo fell to the off theory, and Knight stepped right in front of the wicket and mistimed the hall. After four wickets had fallen for 44 runs Blamires partnered Alloo, and the pair put on 111 runs. Both were missed ot! Henderson, but nevertheless gave a good display. Alloo fell to Badcock when 48. but Blamires went on to 117 before he skied one to Collins off Hiddleston. He played sound cricket. His driving was very fine. Oalland batted brightly for 27, and Dickinson's 38 included eight fours. Badcock was the best of the Wellington bowlers, although Henderson bowled well. The latter had three chances dropped. The Wellington fielding was below par. Wellington's innings opened even more sensationally than that of Otago. Dickinson, helped by a stiff wind, bowled with great pace, and at one stage had secured four wickets for 23 runs. At that time Wellington had five wickets down for 38. Then Badcock and Me(iirr became associated, and they played sparkling cricket, putting on 100 runs in 55 minutes. Badcock, particularly, played shots that were crisp and clean. The two batsmen were still unbeaten when stumps were drawn. Dickinson fell off in his bowling a little wdien brought on a second time, and was rather expensive. The Otago field was good.
