The Commissioner of Prisons in his annual report states that the general adoption of shaving is restoring the prisoners' self-respect. The "hangdog" look, formerly so characteristic, is disappearing. The report pays a tribute to the work of social service organisations and asserts that it is seldom any member of boys' or girls' clubs. Boy Scouts, Oirl Guides or Church Lads' Brigade becomes a prisoner.— (''Sun.")
