RUSSELL REGATTA.

HELD IN SQTJAUY WEATHER. OCEAN YACHT RACE. I THE CENTRE-BOARD RESULT. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") RUSSELL, this day. The Russell regatta is being held in a fresh westerly breeze with squalls and showors. Bad weather on the coast kept the smaller yachts from making Russell, but there was a good muster of the larger yachts and visiting launches. There is a very large attendance of visitors. The Okaihau train brought 400 from northern stations and the Whanpa-rei train was equally crowded. Several hundred arrived by launches from all parts of the Bay. The s.s. Ngatiawa, flagship at the end of the wharf, was well patronised. Ilex, Heartsease, Kotiri, Delville and Xgahau started in the first-class yacht race, Waitere and A'alkyric in the 26----footers, and Marie and Ngaru in the 22-footcr?. A full programme of launch and rowing events started at noon. The finishing times in the ocean race for centreboard yachts were. Waitere 8h 42m p.m. on Saturday night, Xgani, 11, lOh 18m 30s Saturday night. Marie 4h 43m Sunday afternoon. The result is that Ngaru takes first prize, Waitere second, and .Marie third. The small boats sheltered at Kawau and Waitere and Ngaru sheltered at AVhangamumu. In the keel yacht race Ilex, scratch, won by four seconds from Ngiha.i, 15 minutes, and Delville, 11m, third. Waitere won Sic 2(>-footers' race easily, with Valkyrie second. Marie won the 22-footers', with Ngnru second. In the all comers' launch race Lexie I") was first and Cheviot second. In the six knots and under T.P. won.
