EXPLOSION IN TOKYO. DYNAMITE AND GUNPOWDER. LARGE EIRE SPREADING. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) TOKYO, December 28. The cargo of gunpowder on board the steamer < Itavu exploded during unloading opera lions at the piersidc. There were many casualties. A tire started which spreading toward the city. An explosion occurred in a compound at the railway station, wnere 865 cases of dynamite were being unloaded, all of which exploded owing to one box being dropped. The station, with the coal and goods yards, was set on tire. [Several lighters were sunk and buildings in the neighbourhood shattered. Fifty persons were killed and oO seriously wounded, while 280 suffered from slight injuries.— (A. and N.Z. fable.)
