Mr. F. Stewart (Sydney) is at the Central Hotel. Mr. G. Sharp, of Sydney, is a guest at the Grand Hotel. Mr. J. MeCombs, M.P., who has been holidaying in Auckland, returns South this evening. Dr. T. R. Ritchie, senior medical officer. Samoa, arrived at Auckland this morning by the Tofua, on leave. Canon Young, who is in th© Auckland Hospital, suffering from the effects of an accident, is progressing' well. The Governor-General, Sir Charles Fergusson, has accepted the office of Ariki of the Auckland Savage Club. Recent arrivals at Hotel Cargen are Mr. and Mrs. Bailey (Hawera), Mr. and Mrs. Jenkins (Gisborne) and Mr. J. D. Morris (Christchurch). The Rev. J. Lamb-Harvey of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church will he absent from the city for a month after the first Sunday in January. Mr. H. Bates, formerly collector of Customs at Vavau, and now of Apia, was a passenger by the Tofua this morning. He is on leave, and is accompanied by Mrs. Bates and family. Tho Rev. George Budd, superintendent of home missions for the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand is to occupy the pulpit of his old charge at St. Paul's Devonport, during the absence of the I Rev. R. Sinclair Watson, M.A., who is taking his annual holidays during January.
