A RAJAH'S MONEY.

CHARGE AGAINST HOBBS. LONDON, December 26. Giving evidence on the charges brought against Hobbs, the managing clerk of Robinson's solicitor in the Midland Bank case, Wilkinson (known as Appleton and Company) said he bought Appleton's business and employed Hobbs as chief clerk, lie did not hear of the Sir Hari Singh affair until Robinson sued Appleton's for £120,000 as the balance owing of £150,000 with which Robineon was credited through Appleton's letter to the bank. Hobbs prepared the defence, alleging that a conspiracy existed to find Mrs. Robinson in company with Sir Hari Singh at Paris. The action did not reach the Court. Waters, when cross-examined, said Sir Hari Singh, during tic absence of his English aide-de-camp, Captain Arthur, ordered him (Waters) to arrange for private detectives to watch Mrs. Robinson. Witness told Sir Hari of the conspiracy, and the latter then stopped the second cheque. Captain Arthur was not aware the cheque was being stopped. The accused was remanded.— ("Sun" and Reuter.)
