OBITUARY.
MR. EDWARD QTJIKH - . On Christmas Day there passed away at his late residence, 70, College Hill, 'Mr. Edward Quinn, who mis the oldest Auckland mine manager. ITe. came to New Zealand in the early 'sixties, and I landed at the Thames iv 1K67, being a j mere youth. At the age of 18 he was ! placed in charge of a mine. Mr. Quin ] spent his life on the goldfields, and i during his career he managed such well- | known mines as the Queen of Beauty, j the Bird-in-Haml, and thoso of the Wa'ij tekauri poldfields nnd of Reef ton. nis I last management was that nf the Kauri i Freehold Oold Kstato, between Mercury Ray and Whangapoua. Owing to illhealth, Mr. Quinn spent the last 15 years of his life in retirement, during which ' time he never wearied of relating ; reminiscences of his most eventful life. He is survived by his widow and family of two daughters and four sons.
