CUP DAY AT EPSOM.

XOCANDA MAC WINS BIG EVENT. WAIKAHA THE FABNELL HANDICAP. The Auckland Trotting Club's summer meeting was opened to-day. The weather this morning was showery, but towards noon cleared, and the racing at Alexandra Park was negotiated in fine weather. The track was a trifle slow r and there was a large attendance. With the exception of Master Bill, the j field moved away well, and wbcu they had | properly settled "down Ngatira was in front and he showed the way along the back to Napland, Sherwood's Surprise, Golden Gate, and Elsa Nore. Napland closed on Ngutira and the pair were top'iher passing the stand, where Ngntini broke and Nfipland went on in front from Ngntira, Lisa Nore, Golden Gate, I/och T.omond and Lady Ena. Along the back Napland had a two lengths' advantage over Ngatira. and so they ran till they crossed the top, where Ngatira broke and Elsa Nore ran up second. When the field had settled Grattan Dillon, Bawldy Locanda and Ruby Huon. and In this order they raced along the back the first time. Crossing the top Doctor Dillon had charge from Grattan Thorpe and Ruby Huon. but when they reached the stand Ruby Huon had displaced Grattan Thorpe, too latter running third, and being followed by Anizoram, ToU Chimes, La Sonnette, and Admiral Hood. Doctor Dillon continued on in front, ond led Ruby Uuon, Grattan Thorpe, Scandal and Anizoram along the back, while Glandore could be seen moving up fast. Doctor Dillon had half a lengrth'B advantage from Ruby Huon crossing the top, with Glandore now in third place. Just after turning for home Doctor Dillon skipped, allowing Ruby Uuon to draw out, and, holding her own in the run home, she won by a head from the fast finishing Glandore. Doctor Dillon was two lengths away, third, and then Iα order came Toll Chimea, Darknlte, Koninlwood, Anizoram, with Black Prince last. Times, 3.37 2-5, 3.36 3-5, 3.40 3-5. Just prior to the race the winner was purchased by the Messrs. Newdlck Bros, from Mr. Ballocb, a Melbourne sportsman.
