BOWLING TOURNAMENT.

FIRST DAY OF PLAY. FOUR SECTIONS ENGAGED. (By Telegraph.— Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON", this day. The annual howling tournament, controlled by the combined Hamilton clubs, which was to ye commenced yesterday, had to be v- loj'ed owing to the heavy rain, but a start was made this morning ai tho Hamilton aud Whitiora ereens. Three games of •_'! heads each are to he played by each rink to-day, for Monday will be decided later. Prior to play commencing this morning the official openings wore held on both green?, the Mayor (Mr. ,T. K. Vow) perform ing that duty at Hamilton, while the chairman of the tournament committee (Mi. I). (.:. Mcivdith.) officiated at Whitioiii. In extending a welcome to the bowlers the .speaker" regretted that the wet weather had cauoed an upset in affairs, but misled that matters would return to a satisfactory state to permit of the tournament going off without further interruption. Yesterday the visiting bowlers were catered fur by the local enthusiasts. The visitors have been made honorary members of the Walkalo Club during their Btay hero, and last evening were the guests of the Strand Theatre.
