CALEDONIAN SPORTS. (By TelccraDh —Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. There was a large gathering at the «'aledonlnn sports today. The CovernorGeneral, Sir Charles Fergusson, associated himself with the proceedings. When he and Lady Fergussou arrived at the Basin Reserve they were met by the officers of the society, headed by the "chief. Mr. R. H. Nlmmo, and backed up by an imposing array of stalwart pipers. In the three-mile race, R. Rose (the Australasian champion), llufresne (the New Zealand champion) and Priestly (the New Zealand University i-hampioui. all on scratch, were among the starters. It was a great race between Rose and Pufresm-. In the final lap they passed and re-passed each other, and Rose, by a great effort in the last few yards, breasted the tape firet In 15m 3T 4-3. The Grand Caledonian Amateur Handicap was won by C. Allan, who takes the challenge cup. Paris won the 220 yards provincial championship.
