Raisin production in Smyrna for the ifl'J-l season is now ••stimated by leading packers at 38.000 to 40,000 tons, the American Trade Commissioner has informed the Department of Commerce by cable. This is somewhat lower than first estimates, which ranged between 40,000 and 4R.000 tons, birt is still considerably in excess of the 34,000 ton crop in 102-!. The 1923 raisin crop, plus about a r.OOO follows: 18,500 tons were shipped to the United Kingdom : about 15,300 tons went to Holland. Belgium, Germany and Northern Europe: 3400 went to Trieste, the United States. Canada, and Australasia : and the balance retained for home consumption.
