SOCIETY'S GOOD WORK. CONVERTING UGLY CORNERS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. Excellent work has been done by the Hamilton Beautifying Society during the past 12 months in improving the public park 3 and converting ugly corners into beauty spots. At Memorial Park a new glass house and potting -shed were erected, a pergola of rustic timber was built, and several new hedges planted. About one acre of rough ground was cultivated and brought in, and a considerable number of additional flower lieds dug and laid out with seasonable plants. The shrubs and cuttings propagated and planted out totalled 1010, while an additional 12,000 flowering plants were propagated in the glass; hou»e, and have been distributed among the 22 flowering plots which the society have in different parts of the town." Flax plants, cabbage trees, ake : ake. evergreen oaks and creepers were also planted in large quantities. A massive stone arch and steps were erected at Ferry Bank, rockeries being laid out adjacent to the steps, while creepers and vines are being trained over the arch. New plots have been put down in various spare and what were unsightly corners of the town, and several other plots have been rearranged and generally improved.
