OBITUARY.
VETERAN OF MAORI WAR. MR. JOHN KENNY. The funeral of a veteran of the Maori war, Mr. John Kenny, took place nl ten o'clock to-day "at O'Neill's Point Cemetery. Mr. Kenny, who was S2 years of age. arrived at Auckland in ISIII by the ship Star of India. During the war with the Maoris, Mr. Kenny saw active service with the First and Fourth Waikato Regiments. lie was ill ll flairs with tbe Maoris io the Waikato and at Tauranga. At the termination of the war Mr. Kenny went in for fanning near Hamilton, and followed agricultural pursuits for 4years. l-'or tho last eighteen years Mr. Kenny resided nt Id, Koslvn Terrace, Devonport. lie is survived by liis wife, four sons, ami four daughters.
llr. Kenny was a line specimen of a pioneer colonist and right up to the day of his death was upright in llgure, having had wonderfully good health. When Air. Kenny was fit ruling he had to barter his butter at fourpence per pound, for tradesmen's goods, and often marvelled nt the immense development of markets abroad for dairy produce. In his later years Mr. Kenny became a keen theologian.
