GIRL'S BAD RECORD.

SENT TO RELIGIOUS ZKSTIT ll TION. STRICT PROBATION CONDITIONS. "I didn't know I had done wrong, and | when the police came I told them everything," said Elsie Annie Bidois, 'when she faced Mr. Justice Herdman hi the Supreme Court this morning, having pleaded guilty at Paeroa to the concealment of the birth of a child. His Honor said he did not wish to send prisoner to gaol for the offence. However, the reports submitted by police and probation officers were most unsatisfactory. One of them was one of the worst reports that had come under his Honor's notice. A condition of depravity, astonishing in a girl of prisoner's age, was revealed. Prisoner would 'be granted probation for three years, on condition that ehe remained in * Salvation Army home for 12 months, ■ that -thereafter she took a position recommended by Adjutant Gordon, that her employment, amusements, associates and expenditure be subject to Adjutant Gordon's discretion, and that her conduct be entirely to the satisfaction •of the Salvation Army officers. "If you don't comply with these conditions I shall send you to gaol without the slightest hesitation." said the judge, - remarking again that the reports were very bad.
