METAL WORKERS' DISPUTE.
BEFORE ARBITRATION COURT. J COMPLETE AGREEMENT. (Hy THegrnph. — Tress A?soc!ntlon.) DUN'EDIX, this day. The Arbitration Court sii to-day to I hear local evidence in connection with making a Dominion award for metal j workers. It wns stated, however, that a. complete agreement had been reached between the local parties and they desired that the award be ing Otago and Southland. point raised was whether the metal workers or the engineers' award should cover cleaners, slottcrs. stapers and borers, the secretary of each union claiming that they properly came under his section of the trade. At the Court's suggestion the parties conferred and the difficulty was overcome by the insertion of an interpretation clause. The agreement is on the basis of the existing award, with a slight, increase in wages. The judge remarked with pleasure that &o many disputes which came before the Court in Duncdin were either completely settled or very nearly in the Conciliation Council. Otago, in this, as in other matters, had certainly «ct an example to the rest of the Dominion.
