GERMAN COALITION.
MONARCHISTS IN CABINET. LOAN POPULAR IN LONDON. LONDON, October 19. The bargaining by the Government with the various parties with a view to the formation of a coalition, which appeared to be doomed to failure, has had a remarkable denouement. It is now announced that the Cabinet is to be enlarged by the inclusion of four Nationalists. It is expected thnt three of the Democrat .Ministers will resign rather than co-operate with avowed Monarchist opponents of the Dawes plan. The Socialist paper '-Vorwacrts" deplores the effect abroad that such a Government will have. Tlie "Morning Post - ' states that it is estimated that applications for the £12,000,000 British portion of the loan j to Germany amounted to between £150,000,000 and £100.000,000. The Berlin correspondent of the "Times" says that Berlin is elated over the sue-! cess of the loan. The fact that it has been so freely over-subscribed is taken as an indication that Germany might have had, and may still obtain, capital in far larger sums and at a far cheaper rate than has hitherto been the case. The experiment has thus furnished the German business world with an important piece of information, which will not be forgotten.—(A. nnd N.Z. and "Times.')
