DIOCESAN SYNOD.

SPECIAL SERVICES. An "At Home" was held at Bishopscourt this afternoon, in connection with the Diocesan Synod, when Dr. and Mrs. Averill entertained the clergy and their friends.. There was no meeting of Synod to-day. To-morrow, Synod Sunday, will be marked by special many visiting clergy having accepted invitatione to preach in city and suburban churches. At Morning Prayer in the Cathedral, Parnell, Rev. Horace Lindsey, M.A., of Inglewood, will be the preacher, and Rev. F. G. Harvie, of New Plymouth in the evening. Mr. Lindsey will occupy the pulpit at St. Matthew's at 7 p.m. At 11 a.m. at St. Paul's, Symonds Street, there will be a solemn high eeleftratiqn of the Holy Eucharist, and the sermon will be preached by Rev. N. Robertshawe, of Thames. The annual festival of St. Jolm's College Association was held thig morning, with a, celebration in the chapel.
