ECONOMY IN JAPAN.
DRASTIC RECONSTRUCTION. TOKYO, October 17. The Japanese Department of Finance proposes to dismiss 4600 of the highergrade Government officials and 44.150 lower-grade officials in November. This is in furtherance of the new economy plan. The department is proposing, also, to ask the Diet in December to grant £11.000,000 as solace money. The proposed dismissals do not include the army and navy reductions nor those in the services of the prefectures and colonies. — ("Sun.")
