The "Fayre of the East and West,' , promoted by the local Girl Gu'des' Association, and to be held in the Town Hall on October 31 and November 1. will be a notable event in that it is novel in form, being dressed in Oriental and Old English costumes, and also in that it will be the last occasion upon Which their Excellencies the Governor General and Lady Jellicoe will confer their personal patronage upon an activity of a local organisation. Her Excellency, as Dominion president of the association, has closely identified herself with the "Guide -, movement, and it is fitting that Auckland's 'last function of the kind should be in connection with a junior citizens' movement that does so much in the training of our future citizens. Mr. John Sherriff, who lias been in Africa, for 28 years, will g've a lantern lecture in the Ponsonby Road Church of Christ on Monday evening.
