BOYS' WEEK.
SYDNEY; CELEBRATES. j ' ' 25,000 TS PROCESSION. IMPRESSIVE PAGEANTS. {From Our Own Correspondent.) ] SYDNEY, September 12. f Sydney bas devoted tbis week to demonstrations and celebrations in ' honour of "Tbe Boy." "Boys' Week," s as it is known, is to be an annual affair, ' and tbe Boys' Brigade, which does valu- ' able work amongst boys who otherwise } might drift into dead-end occupations, < is to benefit by the sale of bonds. * Perhaps the most impressive fixtures ' of the week have been tlie procession of ] boys and the concert at the Town Hall. 1 The former was arranged with tbe ' object of bringing the public to a realisa- 1 tion of the stage of development reached 1 already by the next generation of men, I and in the procession marched 25,000 < boys. Such a procession in the city would have been too cumbersome, and i with the added object of impressing a 1 wider audience it was split into 17 ] separate parts, in the various suburbs, ' while the closer areas marched in the . city. These processions, accompanied by : bands, were organised in efficient i manner, and formed pageants which will "live long in the memory of those wao : witnessed them. Those who took part in the procession . were dressed alike, and marched to selected rendezvous, where they were addressed by members of the Rotary Club and similar organisations, the speakers impressing on their youthful audiences the ideals that boys should cultivate. The financial side of the work of the Boys' Brigade and kindred bodies has not been, overlooked, and boys have been selling bonds in every part of the State. The bonds are each of the denomination of one shilling, and are inscribed as follows:— . . BOXD OF FKIEXDSHIP. . BOYS' BRIGADE DEVELOPMENT , BOND. This is to certify that the bearer of this Rond has given to the funds of the Boys' Brigade the sum of one shilling. HELP THE BOY—THE MAN OF TO-MORROW. . The singing in the Town Hall hasbeen described as glorious music, and the manner in which the conductor moulded his choir into order in, such a short time reflected wonderful; credit on him. Farmers, Ltd., one of the largest retail stores in Sydney,, entertained several hundred boys, at lunch on Wednesday, and the boys' ball, also in aid of the brigade, was'- a stupendous success. ■' '.'".-.. An exhibition in the Town Hall, concluded the celebrations of the week, during which great enthusiasm has been aroused.
