.AUGUST SHIPPING RETURNS. — ■—. i Shipping returns for the month of I August submitted to the Auckland Harbour Board this afternoon by the 1 harbourmaster (Captain H. H. Sergeant) ' showed that 765 vessels, of 327,738 tons ' gross, or 190,205 tons net, entered the ' port. Compared with the corresponding ' month of last year, tlie large shipping ' showed a decrease ol" seven vessels, but ' the tonnage was more by 1)781 " tons ' gross. The local coastal vessels showed f an increase of 109, the tonnage of which amounted to just over 19,000' gross. The harbourmaster at the Manukau (Cap- I tain R. H. C4ibbons) reported that on his - side the arrivals for August were 30 ' vessels, with an aggregate. tonnage of - 16,915 tons gross, or 7261 tons net, a decrease of» four vessels, 215 tons s gross, "compared with the previous i August. • - .
