TWO LADIES "BUSHED."
SLEEP IN THE SCRUB. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday. Two Wellington young ladies of 18, Misses Tiller and Pollock, the former a member of the Tararua Tramping Club, left early on Sunday morning, tramping to Red Rock, six miles out. In the afternoon they decided to extend their tramp to the head of a long gully over rough, uninhabited 6crub country. Darkness set in while they were in the scrub. They lost the track, and so slept in the scrub all night. Fortunately they had food and ground sheets in their haversacks. The father of Miss Tiller searched from 1 a.m. until 5 a.m., and was then relieved by his son and nephew, who found the wanderers making their way home at 8 a.m. on Monday, exhausted but safe and unhurt. The party arrived home at 10.30 a.m., just as a search party of Tararua trampers was about to leave. After food and rest both girls recovered, and Miss Tiller remarked that she had quite enjoyed the experience.
