'; The Government has rejected an application for a concession to explore and ■ exploit Dutch Wfest and North New Guinea by a German syndicate, headed •by Duke Adolf of Mecklenburg. — (A. and :S.Z. Cable.) More or less* fantastic suggestions •were mad* "when the German- company ■was mooted that Duke Adolf, with the aid of his compatriots and their money, ■was about to set up a little dictatorship, or dukedom, in Dutch New Guinea if _ the Dutch authorities granted the concession. The company proposed to railroad the. country extensively,; and par- • ticularly to offer inducements to that class of people -who are known as junkers.
