POLITICS AND TRAVEL.

It is interesting to note that at the time the Communisms in Britain are declaring fresh war on Imperialism, the Secretary for the Colonies in a Labour Government presides ever a conference of members of Parliament representing various parts of the Empire and all schools of political thought, and the conference approves the principle of periodical tours by Parliamentary delegations. TTie Empire Parliamentary Association wishes to educate members of Parliament in Empire problems. The Communists wish to deetroy the Empire. Mr. Thernas himself has set an example. He has just paid a flying visit to South Africa, and he intends to visit the other Dominions. Canada will be easy for him jto visit, but a trip to Australia or New Zealand would mean an absence of at least three months, which might be very difficult to arrange. Still, the intention is there, and it is excellent. Members of the Imperial Government should i travel in the Empire. It is worth noting ! that Mr. Ramsay Mac Donald is bne of the few Prime Ministers who have teen oversea. One would have, to go back a long way to find one who had travelled so widely. But the obligation to travel is on Dominion public men also. What should they know of England who only New Zealand know? It will be difficult for Australia and New Zealand to send parties of members away every two years, but it will be worth while to make the effort. By' promoting this interchange of visits, and encouraging study of Empire questions in other way 3, the Empire Parliamentary Association is doing a valuable work.
