ELECTRICITY FOR NORTHERN BOROUGHS.

(To the Editor.) Sir,—The letter from Mr. White, hon. secretary, Takapiina Progressive Aeso- j ciation, ■which appeared in these | columns in your Weineßday'e iesue, is very • misleading in the following particulars. My committee decided to con- j vene a. meeting of delegates iFfom the : three Progressive Associations'of Takapuna, viz., Takapuna. Progressive Association, jiilford Association, and Bays-water-Belriiont Progressive Association. All three associations were represented at this rheetihg, five delegates being present from Takapuna and three from Milford. The resolution tarried ■vfras toot "frith reference to the Waitemata. Power Board," but was as follows: "That, this combined meeting of the ratepayers' associations of Takarjuna respect r fully suggest to the Mayor of Takapuna the advisability of immediately joining in "*ith the boroughs of Northcote and Birkenhe'ad ■with' a view to submitting ah application to the Auckland Po%yer Board for the supply of pbirer throughout the whole of the area to be under the jurisdiction of the suggested Waitemata Power Board, such application to inquire as to conditions of price and date of delivery of power." This was moved by one o"f the visiting delegates from the Takapuna Association, and was carried unanimously,- My association would not have proceeded further with the matter had the other associations been opposed to itj and 'it seems strange that Mr. White's committee should have changed their opinions so quickly. The statement that the Takapuna and Milford Associations were opposed to a deputation on electricity -is riot correct, ac the question never arose. —I am, etc., Hon. Sec. Bayswa*er-Belmont Progree l eive — bsoci&ti&h. •" • ■ :
