' ' ! MR. J. H. McKBKZIE. NOVA SCOTIAN PIONEER. ' Agentleman weii known in the Whangarei district, Mr. John Hugh McKenzie died on Saturday aged 68, at his residence, Gladstone Road, Mount Albert. Mr. McKenzie arrived in New Zealand in 1860 with his parents, who were settlors from Nova Scotia. They came across in the Ellen Lewis, and settled at Kauri, in the Whangarei district. Mr. J. H. McKenzie married Miss Katherine Archibald, of Auckland. He retired from the farm about five years ago, and has resided at Mount Albert. Mr. McKenzie was a great sportsman in ■ hie younger days. He is survived by his wife, and the following children: Messrs. Gordon Hugh McKenzie, Maromaku; Lester James McKenzie, surveyor; Albert McKenzie, Lands Department, and Miss Agnes McKenzie. Deceased was promnent member of the Masonic fraternity, and a foundation member of Lodge Whangarei, and filled the chair. US. J. T. GILMOTXR. A well-known resident of Howick, Mr. James Templeton Gilmour, was buried yesterday at tie Presbyterian cemetery in that township. Over 60 cars and other vehicles followed the hearse. Mr. Gilmour was , highly esteemed.by members of the Commercial Travellers' and also Bowling Clubs. He was in his 52nd year, and was for a long time connected with the oil and colour trade, being at one time a partner in the firm of Guthrie, Bowron and Co., of Dunedin. Later he was representative of Hill and Flummer, Ltd. Seven jears ago failing health caused his retirement from business, and he went to -reside with his widowed mother at Howick. He was secretary for Howick Bowling Club, and a deacon of the local Presbyterian Church. Mr. Gilmour was a member of the Commercial Travellers' Club. > and one of its trustees. The Rev. M. K. Gilmour, of Papua, and Mr. W. T. Gilmour, of Auckland, are brothers of deceased.
